Dragons, sea creatures & litter bugs. Oh My!

Five creative themes for the A Bag's Life Box Decorating Contest ran the gamut, from hands up for recyclling to colorful creatures swimming the high seas to lessons on litter and respect for natural spaces.
It was a tight competition among Metro Nashville Public School students.
In the end our judges picked Westmeade Elementary’s “Feed Me” to be the top box — a green Dragon with powerful jaws and pearly white teeth munching on bags.
Westmeade Elementary's winning entry takes the prize, a $100 gift card to use as they please.
Here's a look at the four other schools that entered the plastic bag recycling box decorating contest.

We are approaching the final month of the plastic bag collection contest and are excited to see how many pounds of plastic bags and wraps have been recycled by the seven participating schools.
The contest began in January and ends on Earth Day, Monday, April 22. The school that collects the most total bags and the school that collects the most bags per capita will each be awarded a bench made from recycled plastic bags.
