Follow Earth Day all year round

Do you remember the first Earth Day? If you're a baby boomer, you may recall the spirit of discovery and awareness, of caring and commitment, which swept the United States 40 years ago.

Back then it was mainly a one-day environmental "teach-in," but has evolved into a celebration in abundant meaningful ways.

From planting trees to eating green to bicycling to work, we honor the wonders of our world so that it will be enjoyed by generations to come.

For Floridians, challenges represent the greatest opportunity. People, corporations and governments can unite to join together and create a global green economy.

We all know the bumper-sticker adage: Think globally, act locally. Well, think of the small contributions each one of us can make to our world - with tremendous results.
